PRE - CLASS WORK

MY WORKS

These 3 pieces were submitted as my HSC Major-work. The medium of each includes graphite pencil, charcoal (and pastels - far left). The overall theme behind each artwork was the concept of depression and how it has had an impact on those close to me. In doing so I tried to grasp an understanding of what it may feel like to live with depression, seen through the use of chiaroscuro lighting and contrasting dynamics where my idea ultimately conclude that there is 'light' or 'hope; at the end of what may appear to be or feel like an endless void of darkness.

A PIECE OF ARCHITECTURE

This is the Sanwell Office Building in WA, designed by Braham Architects. This piece of architecture stood out to me due to its simplicity in design and materials, yet hidden away are small details which create the overall silhouette and shape of the building. Both Architect and Client collaborated in this dynamic design to create an office building that could maintain presence on a smaller scale. It further embodies the idea that an office building can sit harmoniously in its industrial context yet is a forefront example of sustainability - featuring thermal mass, solar panels on the roof and landscaping of deciduous trees which provide solar shading.

ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPH

As a Barista one of my greatest passions is coffee. I find that being a barista explores a sense of creativity not only in the designs my of latte art but further within the brewing process and the fine details that go into making the taste and flavour of a coffee. Many people overlook the distinct and intrinsic tastes that create a unique coffee blend, and many overlook the art of roasting and brewing as most people only see the art and creativity handed to them in a glass cup or spherical mug. Just like Architecture, creativity and design is more than just the outside appearance, but every detail which contributed into creating a unique building.
